The Whatcom County Sheriff's Office is hosting the Tony Blauer S.P.E.A.R. System Operator Course on June 12th to 14th. The S.P.E.A.R. System is a modern close quarter combatives and personal defense program based on science, psychology and human bio- mechanics. It is not a martial art nor does it replace other martial systems. We have standardized and simplified close quarter combatives choices and improved potential effectiveness by basing the close quarter skills on hardwired reflexes and reactions to violence. Because S.P.E.A.R. System tactics are built upon hard-wired reflexes, the system enhances the defenders ability to weather, deflect or intercept a sudden close quarter “ambush.” This is an end-user course with an emphasis on repetition. Upon completion of the training, the students will have been exposed to the following S.P.E.A.R. System drills and skills: 1. No Room / No Time to Shoot Combatives 2. Crowd Penetration Skills 3. Weapon Protection 4. Close Quarter Tools 5. Transitioning from primary weapon to unarmed skills 6. Solo Handcuffing 7. Tandem Handcuffing 8. Tandem Takedown 9. Tactical Get Up Blauer Tactical Systems is one of the world's leading consulting companies specializing in the research and development of close quarter tactics & scenario-based training for law enforcement, military and professional self-defense instructors. This course is appropriate for all law enforcement and military personnel interested in learning skills to deal with No Room / No Time/ No Need- To shoot scenarios, Crowd penetration tactics and drills, weapon protection, extreme close quarters tools, transitioning smoothly from armed to unarmed tactics, and solo and tandem handcuffing.
